Design & Development Associates have secured planning consent for a single storey rear extension and new front balcony in Poole.
Our client has recently purchased the property and wanted to re-locate the kitchen and undertake an extension. The remit for the extension was to create a light and bright space with view over the garden. In order to facilitate this, we optioned for a corner bi-fold system and a large glass sky lantern to provide an even spread of light. In addition to this we also designed a new balcony for the master bedroom and Juliet balconies were added to the first floor bedrooms as a feature.
Due to the size of the extension and the introduction of a balcony, we advised our client to submit the proposal as a Householder Planning Application. In order for us to do this we undertook a measured survey of the existing property to show the council the current arrangement. Once completed we undertook a design proposal and the scheme was approved within 8 weeks of submission.
Following this we also acted on behalf of the client for a detailed Building Regulations submission. Given the high levels of glazing we undertook a SAP calculations to allow us to increase thermal insulation elsewhere in the extension to ensure it can be used all year round. Works are now ongoing on site.
