Design & Development Associates have secured planning consent for a single storey rear extension to a character bungalow in Oakdale.
Our client was seeking to extend their kitchen and create a new dining area. They wanted the space to be open plan with lots of light, ideally with a sky lantern within the roof as a contemporary feature. Reviewing the brief we suggest a flat roof extension allowing for a vaulted sky lantern to provide an abundance of natural light and this can be located centrally within the room as a feature. We then opted for french doors with demi-panels (which look similar to bi-folds) and a high level obscure window on the north side of the extension.
The proposal required planning consent and we therefore undertook a detailed measured survey of the property to produce existing floor plans and elevations. Our architectural designers then undertook a design proposal which was submitted to the local authority as a Householder Planning Application. The application was swiftly approved with BCP council (Poole) under delegated powers.
Design & Development Associates also assisted in the production of Building Regulation compliant plans. We liaised with structural engineers and independent building control authorities to produce a set of detailed plans, which will now be used by the builders when works commence early in 2020.
